I forged this one from a roller bearing that came out of a shaker at a grain mill. The steel is 52100. It was meant to be lot larger, but it developed a warp that just wouldn't go away; but, bladesmiths don't make mistakes, we just make smaller knives. So, I ended up cutting off a few inches.
The blade measures in at 7", and the elk antler handle gives and overall length of 12.5".
With every single hunting or EDC knife I make, I test the tip. I have a chunk of maple I stab the blade into and then rock it back and forth. If the tip snaps, it gets tossed off to the side. This knife survived. I do this because I believe every hunting knife, even little guys like this one, should be able to pop the pelvic on a deer without having to worry about looking this tip.
You'll do four deer before you start thinking about bringing out the whet stone.
*The cutting edge is sharpened at a 25°.
**This knife comes with a hand tooled 7-8oz leather sheath.
