I forged this one from a roller bearing that came out of a shaker at a grain mill. The steel is 52100. The blade measures in at 3.25", and the black ash burl handle gives and overall length of 6.75".
With every single hunting or EDC knife I make, I test the tip. I have a chunk of maple I stab the blade into and then rock it back and forth. If the tip snaps, it gets tossed off to the side. This knife survived. I do this because I believe every hunting knife, even little guys like this one, should be able to pop the pelvic on a deer without having to worry about looking this tip.
You'll do five deer before you start thinking about bringing out the whet stone.
*The cutting edge is sharpened at a 25°.
**This knife comes with a hand tooled 7-8oz leather sheath.
