Damascus Cu Mai

This one is a beautiful piece.

The Damascus cu mai blade measures in at 5.25". The brass guard and cocobolo handle gives an overall length that's just over 10". Perfect for an everyday carry, or great for a hunting knife. The tip will pop a deer pelvic and not even flinch.

Cu mai is the same concept as the Japanese style "go mai." Cu is the symbol for copper on the periodic table. Mai is Japanese for layer. So, cu mai= copper layer. The core of the knife--the cutting edge--is 1095 high carbon steel. 

With every single hunting or EDC knife I make, I test the tip. I have a chunk of wood I stab the blade into and then rock it back and forth. If the tip snaps, it gets tossed off to the side. This knife survived. You can comfortably pop a pelvic with this knife and not have to worry about losing the tip.
