This 4" blade is a canister Damascus go mai. This overall length is a little under 9", and the handle is ebony.
I forged this canister Damascus with my nephews. We used ball bearings and 1090 powdered steel. When they had their knives hammered to profile, I took the leftovers of the Damascus an restacked it in a go mai billet; the core being 1095.
With every single hunting or EDC knife I make, I test the tip. I have a chunk of maple I stab the blade into and then rock it back and forth. If the tip snaps, it gets tossed off to the side. This knife survived. I do this because I believe every hunting knife, even little guys like this one, should be able to pop the pelvic on a deer without having to worry about looking this tip.
You'll do four deer before you start thinking about bringing out the whet stone.
For the sheath, I decided to go with a scout carry style. I figured it'd look good with this style of knife.
*The cutting edge is sharpened at a 25°.
**This knife comes with a hand tooled 5-6oz leather sheath.
